Curating a more sustainable wardrobe doesn’t have to be a daunting task. While it may require some investment of your money and time, it’s a process you can take pride in.
So, how can you adopt more responsible and sustainable shopping habits?
Shop Natural
Prioritising natural fibres is a core value here at Chinti & Parker. A simple eco-friendly habit to adopt is to try and avoid synthetic fibres wherever you can, and only buy pieces made from fabrics that you’ve heard of, such as wool, silk, linen, cashmere and cotton. Not only are these more eco-friendly when you wash, but when they’re grown organically, you can be confident in a lessened environmental impact.
Organic cotton is a fibre we introduced into our very first collection in 2009. This fibre has been grown without using pesticides, insecticides, genetic modification or chemical substances of any kind. Using these methods to grow cotton results in a richer ecosystem, encourages more wildlife, and keeps farmland fertile and more sustainable, and less water usage and pollution.
HOW TO SHOP SUSTAINABLY
“Will I wear it 30 times?” This will help you make better decisions when it comes to statement pieces that may quickly go out of style, or something you will only wear for one occasion. Opt instead for versatile items that can be matched with others you own for longevity.
There are few who can resist the allure of new clothes, but more of us are making the concerted effort to be more environmentally conscious in our lives. Falling back in love with the pieces we already own is undoubtedly the most effective way to be fashionably sustainable and reduce our impact on the planet.
